latest iPad app purchase: Animation Desk
by Rizo on maj.05, 2011, under Applications, Fun, iPad
I was a bit bored during the weekend and I saw an add that caught my attention. The add was regarding Animation Desk for the iPad which basically lets you do some fun simple animations.
About the app:
As stated above, it let’s you do some simple animations (well.. depends on the person behind the pen I guess) and is actually a good bit of fun. Not only for the kids but pretty much for everyone. I was having a laugh while doing very…. sophisticated animations. Animation Desk let’s you see what’s drawn in the two last ”piece of paper” to let you make more accurate animations. You can of course duplicate the paper (well, layer) and then change that one to make the animation look smooth. You get different size pencils and colors and a good overview of the canvas when using ”fullscreen”.
The verdict:
Its fun but it does lack some features. Smaller animations would be great to export to a .gif and not only movies. I wish also that you could ”move” what you’ve drawn. That would make animations more easy (moving backgrounds for example) but other than that, it fills its purpose.
Rate: 3 out 5 and the reason it doesn’t get a four is just simply because it doesn’t really make you urge to make an animation. But if you’re into doing animations, then I’m pretty sure you’ll find this better.

What would a short review be without a sample? (might not be visible since it’s on facebook. dunno if it’s ”locked” to my profile or not)
Boot camp 2.1 wont install
by Rizo on sep.02, 2009, under Applications
I’ve been working with VMWare running WinXP for a year now but now it’s feeling a bit too slow so I’ve decided to run vista native on my macbook pro. (will upgrade to vista7 later on).
First problem was that Boot Camp assistant couldn’t create a partition for windows since it couldn’t move some of the files. The ”best” solution seems to be to run time machine and recover. That way it will defrag the harddrive and let you create the partition.
Second problem was the drivers. I’ve installed Vista SP2 and boot camp2.0 didn’t really work as intended. Neither the trackpad nor fn button was working properly, so I had to install 2.1 as soon as possible. Problem is that the installation just pops up and nothing happens.
I’ve runned into two solutions for this problem.
One:
Try the following:
1) run: regedit.exe
2) search for: Boot Camp Services
the key should be: ProductName
3) change in the same path, the Language key to: 1033
4) run the installer again
I didn’t really try this one out at though but most people say it works.
Second way:
Change your region to English(US)
Uninstall Boot camp 2.0
Restart
Install Boot camp 2.0
Restart
Install Boot camp 2.1
Yes, it’s annoying. Yes, it takes time. But now it’s done and finally I’m running Boot camp 2.1. (restarting as I’m typing this). Just hope that trackpad and fn key will work now 😛
Windows Live Writer
by Rizo on mar.21, 2009, under Applications
Thought I would give this tool a chance. Yesterday I upgraded my MSN messenger and along with it, Windows Live Writer. You could choose from a few more applications but to be honest, they all seemed rubish, all except WLW that is. So after a few settings on my blog and WLW it seems to be up and running. I gotta say, its really comfortable to post like this and it gives you pretty much free hands to do whatever you wish with the post. The “Review” function is really nice too since it renders how it will look once posted, not only this post. Much like using the normal admin page.
So far, I find this tool very nice and helpful.
Oh, I almost forgot. You can add categories aswell with the tool. I recommend it to all Word Press users.
